FAQ
QUESTIONS
What brand owners usually ask before working with us.
Do you work outside Istanbul?
Yes. We work in all 81 provinces of Türkiye; most actions outside Istanbul are at the ports, the border gates and the resort markets.
Do we need a Turkish trademark registration first?
Generally yes. Customs applications and criminal complaints rest on a registration that covers Türkiye, either a national filing with TÜRKPATENT or an international registration under the Madrid system.
How fast can you react to a customs detention?
The same business day. The statutory deadlines run from the day customs notifies you, so we ask you for confirmation from photographs straight away.
How do you charge?
The scope, the work and the costs are agreed in writing before anything starts. Every action and every cost then appears in your monthly report, and official fees, customs charges and other third-party expenses are shown separately as they arise.
Who pays storage and destruction costs?
It depends on the route. Goods held by customs on your application are stored, analysed and destroyed at the right holder's cost and risk under the Customs Regulation. If a court orders confiscation, the costs fall on the owner of the goods, although recovering them from a counterfeiter is rarely practical. Goods seized in a criminal case are held as evidence by the state, and the administrative courts have ruled that a customs directorate cannot charge the trademark owner for storing them. In every case we ask for destruction as early as the law allows and show each cost in your monthly report.
Can you work alongside our global brand-protection vendor or outside counsel?
Yes. We act as their team in Türkiye, take instructions from them and report back in English.
Which languages do you work in?
English and Turkish.
How do you report?
Once a month. The report lists the actions taken, the seizures, the costs and the next steps, and you can forward it internally as it is.
